There are currently five Great Schools, in addition to numerous lesser schools. The lesser schools are the general education areas of the Asherati. Every Asherati attends a lesser school for some time, learning basics of history, math, and the like. Students are also introduced to the concepts behind each of the Great Schools, that they might find their own calling in society. Not every Asherati attends a Great School, but many are.
The three Great Schools are as follows: the School of Education, the School of Artistic Endeavours, the School of Tactics and Manuevers, the School of Desert Companions, and the School of Negotiations and Commerce. Their names reveal the focus of each school, but for the sake of completeness, we will give a brief rundown of each school.
**School of Desert Companions**:
The School of Desert Companions was founded by Alexander. As the first of the Asherati to demonstrate the incredible gift of communicating, and training the creatures of the desert, he became the founder of the school, the first teacher, and eventually the Patriarch of his own house. The school trains those with an aptitude for dealing with various animals. There are multitudes of uses for the students of this school, depending on their own preferences, and the animals they seem to work best with. Some work in providing food, some work with the military forces, some work with transporting goods... The possibilities are numerous.
**School of Negotiations and Commerce**:
The School of Negotiations and Commerce exists solely because of an accident. A young Asherati named Irtos, in the course of an experiment with magic, entered to a very different place; namely, the Blasted (formerly Blessed) Isle of Tieflings (formerly humanity). It was on his travels there that he came up with the idea of bringing some of the brightness and joy of the Warrens to what he saw as the drab megapolis of Teppelin. Upon his return, he endeavoured to start a roaring trade of many things, from music and art to jewels, with not only the tieflings of Teppelin, but the Mteule of the desert as well. It was he who formalized the use of the yek caravans for hauling goods from place to place, and the migrant tent-markets that sprung up on the desert face.
Irtos is a negotiator and merchant at heart, first recognized diplomat of the Warrens to the Tieflings, and a number of other things besides.

===**Heroes**===
The Pleader is the first Asherati ever created. Very little is known about this mysterious figure. He rules from behind closed doors and sealed councils for the past several generations; early on in the times of the Warrens, he was a more public figure, organizing the people, directing the construction efforts that produced the capital of Kolmansk. It was his inspiration, his decisions, that founded the Great Schools.
Heut is famed throughout the Warrens as Heut the Resurrected; one who died but stayed not dead. The founder and head of the School of Education, he is known also for his thirst for knowledge and his drive to pass it to future generations. Heut likely knows more than entire cities of people, and is more than willing to share it.
Alexander was once a fairly meek Asherati, long ago. Now, he stands among the respected minor houses, having established himself in the wake of his return to the city, and teaching the ways of the animals. It was he who first taught the people of the Warrens that not all the animals of the desert were to be feared, and with the right mindset and persuasions, they could be friends, fellow hunters. Alexander himself seems to have an empathy with the creatures beyond that of any others.
Tal'vin, also known as Talmanes, is the mind behind the School of Tactics and Manuevers. It was he that devised the basic training program still in use, he who aimed the focus of the upper levels of the school, he who helped to organize the military force of the Warrens. After the Slaving raids of Vendigroth, it was Tal'vin who spearheaded the first freedom assault. He is known as a brilliant tactician and skilled warrior, a humble Patriarch, something relatively unknown in the Warrens.
Loreena is the premier harpist in the Warrens. She picked up the harp before her fourth cycle in the schools, and has barely set it down since. Her music pulls the emotion from all that listens; this note brings forth tears of sadness, another brings hearty laughter, a third brings smiles of joy. She lives for the music that she creates and shares. From a relatively minor house on her own, she has done very little to exploit her exalted position for her house. As an Asherati, she is regarded as an exceptional beauty as well, with finely toned and high cheeks, and a simple aura about her.

The School of Education is responsible for training the teachers for all the lesser schools. In addition, the members of the School work with the other Great Schools to help them pass on their knowledge of their disciplines to future generations. They are also seekers after knowledge of all types. An extension of this school is the Collegium of Magic, the organization responsible for learning the magics stolen from Vendigroth, and altering them to the purposes of the residents of the Warrens. And then, of course, teaching them. When the School was first founded, the first of the Great Schools, an Asherati named Heut spearheaded the effort. That was many years ago.
The School of Artistic Endeavours provides several key functions for the Asherati nation. Students of the school include the architects responsible for the buildings and the very city design of the newer Asherati warrens. In every city, home, or public building, there are nearly always some examples of the schools work. Various renderings decorate everywhere, providing a beauty in their subterranean living space. The most valuable of these is the sandsculpture. An Asherati sandsculpture takes a great deal of time to gather, shape, render, and color. They are pieces of exceeding beauty and inspiration. This School is also responsible for the teaching and playing of music, the wonderful gift found above. The most famous of the musicians is the lady Loreena, a harpist of extraordinary skill, able to soothe a savage soul.
